Having my playlist shuffled this afternoon. Then it is played, an Indonesian song called “Jejak langkah” by Glenn Fredly. One of the best Indonesian singers I’ve ever known. Well, at least from his songs and creations. He’s kinda good. And can be considered as one of the best.
Anyway, I do not intend to discuss about him, but the chorus part of his song gives me an idea to write this post.
Jejak langkah yang kau tinggal mendewasakan hatiku
Jejak langkah yang kau tinggal takkan pernah hilang s’lalu
Been having great convo with many people recently. Never thought that all people that I meet could be “teachers” for my life. I am the one that used to think that teachers are only those who work at school, standing in front of the class and answering questions from the students. I was wrong. I found out that actually all people that come and go in or to my life are also “teachers”.
What cool is, the lessons offered by those people may vary from one to another.
We may have some people that may seem like the worst mistake in our life.
We may have some people that are just as close as our own family.
Some of them may be the ones that put the deepest cut in our heart.
Some of them may be the ones that bring us the greatest time in our life.
People come and people go.
For the ones that stay, they teach us every day as we interact with them.
For the ones that go, they left the footprints in our life that somehow can also teach us about many things.
From the worst mistake, we can learn how to be wiser.
From the deepest cut, we can learn how to forgive.
From the greatest times, we can learn how to appreciate life and be thankful.
From the closest people, we can learn how to share. That life is actually even more beautiful if we know how to share.
Is that gonna be easy? Of course not. If life was easy, this world would have been a better place. This life is not easy, well, it used to be easy when we were younger and the hardest decision was about which flavor of ice cream we wanna have. But now, as we get older, the harder choices are to be made.
Whether or not we realize it, we are all “teachers” to other people that we meet. You may not work at school and teach students in a classroom, but you surely are a teacher for the people that come and go to your life. And they are too to you. But to see it that way, it’s your choice 😉
